Holehird rewards you for looking more closely. One border can feel completely different from the next. Tart green growth beside ripe colour, softer planting beside stronger structure. All set against the fells beyond Windermere. That way of building a garden in layers felt immediately familiar to us: acidity, sweetness and softness all need their place, just as they would in a balanced plate.
THE SCENT
Rhubarb and grapefruit bring the acidity first. Apple, plum, strawberry and raspberry build the ripe fruit through the middle, while vanilla softens the sharper edges and cedar keeps the finish clean. Like a fruit compote balanced with enough acidity to stop it becoming too sweet.
